European Urban Initiative

The European Urban Initiative is a new EU programme aimed at providing more coherent support to cities by bringing together various urban initiatives and support tools, and enhancing the connection with key Cohesion Policy activities. This programme will include the well-known Urban Innovative Actions (UIA), but will also extend support to cities of all sizes and bolster the EU Urban Agenda.

The initiative will encompass capacity building, the development of innovative, transferable, and scalable solutions, and ultimately the design and implementation of policies, urban mainstreaming, and facilitating access to knowledge.

The goal is to strengthen integrated and participatory approaches to sustainable urban development and to create a stronger link with EU policies, particularly investments in cohesion policy.
