La Rinconada Town Hall has launched an ambitious project to install smart parking pods for bicycles and personal transportation devices (PTDs). This initiative is part of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy and is funded by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Additionally, the project is included in the La Rinconada Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the La Rinconada Urban Agenda Implementation Plan.
This project arises from the need to improve air quality in the municipality, promoting the decarbonisation of urban mobility and efficiency in mobility planning. The installation of these parking facilities is part of a series of initiatives that include the creation of green infrastructure and the expansion of the bicycle lane network, all funded through the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI, by its Spanish acronym) and the first call for Low Emission Zones (LEZs).
The contract includes the installation, outfitting and implementation of two pods for the secure parking of bicycles and personal transporters, each with a minimum capacity of 10 spaces and a charging station per space. The pods will be installed in two key locations: one in the San José de la Rinconada area, next to the indoor pool, and the other at the entrance of the Town Hall.
The total investment for PHASE I and two years of TECHNICAL SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING amounts to €93,610.00, of which 100% is funded by NextGenerationEU funds. We must highlight that the total VAT (€16,571.10) is entirely financed by La Rinconada Town Hall.
